College welcomes new faculty member in supply chain management

The College of Business Administration has hired Xiang (Sean) Wan as an assistant professor of management, specializing in supply chain management. In addition to teaching courses in the Department of Management, he will be working with Doug Fisher, assistant professor of management, and Mark Cotteleer, associate professor of management, in the Center for Supply Chain Management.
Wan, who recently completed his doctorate at the University of Maryland’s R.H. Smith School of Business, earned a master’s in economics from Xi’an Jiaotong University and a bachelor’s in computer science from Nanchang University, both in China. His industry experience includes working as a manufacturing manager at Letop Inc., an international logistics company, where he was in charge of production orders from U.S. companies, such as Wal-Mart, Nike, and Nautica, and he is presently consulting on product variety and demand planning for Pepsi.
Wan’s research interests include product and service variety in supply chains, inventory management, product quality control, and transportation management. He was awarded the Krowe Award and Top 15% Awards for Teaching Excellence from the Smith School of Business in 2009 and 2010.
