Two Marquette Business alumni elected to university’s Board of Trustees

Two of the four new members recently elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees are Marquette Business alumni.
Patrick S. Lawton, a 1978 graduate of the College of Business Administration and a 1980 graduate of the Graduate School of Management, serves as the managing director of fixed income capital markets at Robert W. Baird & Co., where he is responsible for all areas of fixed income capital markets, including public finance banking, sales and trading. Prior to joining Baird in 1988, Lawton spent seven years with the Merrill Lynch Capital Markets group, the last three of which were spent in Chicago.
Lawton is a member of Baird’s board of directors, serves as chairman of the board of WaterStone Financial Inc., and is on the board of the BMO Harris Bradley Center. He is also a member of the College of Business Administration's Dean’s Council of Excellence.
Scott H. Schroeder graduated from the College of Business Administration in 1992 and from Marquette’s joint juris doctor/M.B.A. program in 1996. He is a founding partner at Balyasny Asset Management, a globally diversified, multi-strategy hedge fund manager focused on combining high quality, proprietary, fundamental research with top investment talent, a dynamic capital allocation process and comprehensive risk management. Schroeder is a member of the investment and executive committees and is directly responsible for oversight of the trading desk, firm-wide accounting, international expansion, recruiting, finance and reporting, and the legal and regulatory aspects of the firm.
Schroeder joined the predecessor to Balyasny Asset Management, a group within Schonfeld Securities, in 1999. Previously, he was an associate at the law firm of Foley & Lardner in the securities and mergers and acquisitions division.
