Marquette student honored for top accounting exam score
February 10, 2012
MILWAUKEE – Ling Tuo, a graduate accounting student in Marquette University’s Graduate School of Management, will be honored by the local chapter of the IMA, a leading association of accountants and finance professionals, for earning the top score among other chapter members on the Certified Management Accounting exam.
According to the IMA, the CMA – now in its 40th year – is the advanced professional certification specifically designed to measure the accounting and financial management skills that drive business performance. Achieving the CMA credential demonstrates mastery of financial planning, analysis, control and decision support, as well as professional ethics.
The global pass rate for the CMA is approximately 40 percent, IMA said.
“We are incredibly proud of Ling’s performance,” said Mike Akers, chair and professor of accounting. “She is both personable and intelligent, and we hope that in a few years she will be educating the next generation of accountants, as she is currently applying to Ph.D. programs.”
