Students travel to India; follow along with their blogs
December 21, 2011
Five Marquette students will be chronicling their journey to India during a two-week study abroad experience. Matthew Santilli, Steven Delonge, Erin Peterson, Richard Bennett and Jenny Rose Hawk each will maintain a blog with frequent posts about their experiences with Indian business and culture.
On Jan. 1, 2012, a total of 11 graduate and undergraduate students will travel with Monica Adya, associate professor of management, and Kate Kaiser, professor of management, to visit IT companies to understand how these offshore firms work with those in the U.S. to execute IT projects. The team will visit six companies: Infosys, Impetus, HCL, Deloitte-India, Syntel and Spiderlogic.
“We will visit these companies’ work locations and campuses, hear presentations from their staff about business models, client relationship management, knowledge management, HR retention practices, etc.,” Adya says. “Additionally, the students will make presentations on topics of mutual interest. For instance, they will present to new recruits at Syntel on best practices in working with American business professionals.”
The five bloggers have already begun posting, outlining their preconceptions about Indian business and culture. Follow each of them now through Jan. 14:
