Each year, the United Way of Greater Milwaukee honors five community leaders for their commitment to the Milwaukee area through their Philanthropic 5 Awards. The awards, created by United Way’s Emerging Leaders Council, recognize five community leaders, age 45 or under, who have made extraordinary commitments of leadership, volunteerism, mentoring and philanthropy to the non-profit community of Greater Milwaukee.

AIM Director, Dr. David Krause, was informed that Dan Tranchita has been chosen to receive one the 2010 Philanthropic 5 Awards on August 19. Dan is Managing Director & Senior Portfolio Manager for Robert W. Baird & Co. in Milwaukee. He received his BS and MBA – Finance degrees in 1985 and 1986from Marquette University. He was instrumental in the creation and development of the Applied Investment Management program.

Dr. Krause said, “I have known Dan since the early 1980s when I served as his faculty advisor at Marquette. Back then – as well as now – I have always found him to be selfless and altruistic. He is a person of the highest character, and I’ve never seen him engage in any self-serving or unbecoming behavior. Dan is an exceptionally ethical person who serves as a positive role model for everyone who comes into contact with him. I am proud to be his friend.”

He continued, “Dan is not only engaged with Marquette and the AIM program; but he is also active in his local community and is involved in numerous nonprofit organizations, such as Boy Scouts. On both a professional and personal level he has given much to our community. I am pleased to see him honored with this award. He is truly deserving.” Besides Dan Tranchita, the other honorees are: Darren Goldstein, Partner, KMPG LLP; Nancy Hernandez, Owner, ABRAZO Multicultural Marketing & Communication; Darryl Morin, President & CEO, Advanced Wireless; and Abby Ramirez, Executive Director, Schools That Can Milwaukee.

Marquette University President Father Robert A. Wild, S.J., said, “On behalf of all of us here at Marquette University, I send my warm congratulations to Dan Tranchita for receiving a 2010 Philanthropic Award from United Way. It is a privilege and always a pleasure for me to recognize Marquette’s friends and alumni for such success. This is most certainly an affirmation of your commitment to excellence and to our community. From your work with the Boy Scouts of America and the United Performing Arts Fund, to your support and service here at Marquette, you are an excellent role model for our students.  Your accomplishments reflect well on the university, and you are a credit to your Alma Mater. We are very grateful to claim you as an alumnus. Thank you for embodying the ideal of excellence that Marquette University strives to promote.”
