Alumnus Dan Fuss honored with Lifetime Achievement Award
January 23, 2013
Marquette Business alumnus Dan Fuss, vice chairman of Loomis, Sayles & Co., has been honored by the CFA Society of Milwaukee with its inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the College of Business Administration in 1955 and his MBA in 1965.
Fuss has 54 years of experience in the investment management industry and has been with Loomis, Sayles & Co. since 1976. He is vice chairman of the firm and manages the firm's flagship Loomis Sayles Bond Fund—which won the 2009 Morningstar Fund Manager of the Year award in the fixed income category—in addition to a variety of other funds.
In 2000, he was named to the Fixed Income Analysts Society’s Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions and lifetime achievements in the advancement of the analysis of fixed income securities and portfolios. SmartMoney magazine named him one of “the world's greatest investors” alongside Warren Buffet. He is past president of the Boston Security Analysts Society.
“My students and I are very proud to have had the opportunity during the past decade to become acquainted with Mr. Fuss,” says Dr. David Krause, director of Marquette Business’ Applied Investment Management program. “While we have marveled at his amazing investment prowess, we have also seen his generosity in the support of many worthy causes. He is a person of high ethical integrity and a man of faith and character. On behalf of the students and faculty at Marquette University, we wish the very best to Dan.”
According to the CFA Society of Milwaukee, “The Lifetime Achievement Award was created to recognize the lifelong talents and achievement of a CFA institute member, who has through a career dedicated to the investment profession been a living example of leadership, hard work, success and integrity, and who embodies the values of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Milwaukee, and its members and affiliates. It also recognizes someone who has strong ties to the local community and has over that lifetime lent ongoing leadership and support to the Greater Milwaukee area and the local investment profession.”
Fuss was honored at a reception Jan. 23, 2013, where he also delivered a keynote address.
