MBA student team leads Briggs & Stratton to victory at Torch Awards

October 30, 2012

A team of Marquette MBA students worked with the senior management of Briggs & Stratton to draft the application and then apply for the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau's Torch Award for ethics and integrity, which the firm won in the large company category. Each year the Wisconsin BBB holds its Torch Awards, recognizing both for-profit and nonprofit organizations.

“The application process takes months of work and the competition is highly competitive,” said John Fons, adjunct instructor of management. “Needless to say, the team did tremendous work and found the experience very rewarding. I am extremely proud of these students – they truly made a difference.”

This is the second Torch Award victory led by a student group. An MBA team last year helped Sargento Foods win in its category.
