Assistant Professor of Finance

Dr. Arena joined Marquette University in 2006 as an Assistant Professor in the Finance Department. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Torino in Italy, his M.B.A. from Iowa State University, and his Ph.D. in Finance from University of Missouri. Professor Arena has previously worked for Procter & Gamble and as an environmental consultant. During his M.B.A. studies, Matteo worked at Ames Laboratory, Iowa State University to develop a method that is currently used by NASA astronauts to analyze drinking water on the International Space Station. Dr. Arena’s research and teaching field is corporate finance. His current research interests include corporate debt, international corporate finance, corporate governance, and litigation risk. His work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Corporate Finance and the Journal of Banking and Finance.
