Ten Days in India
Led by professors Kate Kaiser and Monica Adya, 14 undergraduate and MBA students traveled to India over Christmas break 2009-10 for a three-credit study abroad tour that included classroom meetings prior to and following the trip.
The group visited leading software companies where they saw an example of these firms develop software across national and cultural boundaries. As an example of a policy that complements a cultural issue, at HCL (Hindustan Computers Ltd), the group was introduced to the company’s Employees First Policy, “Genie at the Workplace”, which has reduced turnover from the industry average of 20-40% to under 15%. The study abroad experience also brought the group to InfoSys, Zensar, Spider Logic and Deloitte USA’s India office, as well as to the Management Development Institute Guargon for a discussion of a variety of topics between students from the school and those from MU.
