Finance
Welcome from the Chair
Welcome to the Finance Department at Marquette University’s College of Business Administration. We are committed to the education and support of our students, who will aspire to be ethical leaders in the global financial marketplace. Our curriculum is relevant and rigorous.
Our faculty members are scholars with an applied focus. They bring their excitement about research and finance into the classroom. The courses they teach emphasize applied analysis using financial data bases and excel modeling, sensible interpretation based on well reasoned logic, well written research reports, and good presentation skills. Faculty strive to be relevant and abreast of current industry demands. For example, we have recently added to our curriculum “Alternative Investments,” “Risk Management” and “Investment Ethics.”
We are fortunate to be located in downtown Milwaukee, and with many financial firms just down the street, many of our students have internships prior to graduation. We have a network of dedicated and engaged alumni, here, in Milwaukee, as well as, Chicago, New York, and many other major metropolitan areas. Our alumni mentor students, source internship opportunities, and ultimately high quality full time positions after graduation at companies such as J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, R. W. Baird, and Wells Fargo.
We are also proud of our applied programs. The Applied Investment Management Program was the first undergraduate program named an educational partner with the CFA (Chartered Financial Analysts) Program. The most recent pass rate for AIM students on the CFA Level I exam was 89%; nationally it was 46%.
We are the only Jesuit school to offer a Real Estate major. The Associates in Commercial Real Estate Program recruits and trains minorities for professional careers in commercial real estate.
I invite you to explore these pages to experience the range of research, courses, special events, and other resources that contribute to the vibrant intellectual life of our department.
On behalf of the finance department, thank you for your interest in us.
