Finance

Undergraduate

Our finance students face the job hunt with a variety of options.  Students have been recruited by Northwestern Mutual, Wells Fargo, US Bancorp, Assurant Health, Fiserv, and various other top-tier corporations.

Graduates of our Applied Investment Management Program (AIM) have some of the highest pass rates on the Level I Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) exam; almost twice the national average on the most recent exam. Students from the AIM Program have landed jobs at JP Morgan, Robert W Baird, BlackRock, and Stark Investments.

Marquette real estate students are also exposed to a multitude of career options that best suit their goals. Students have started their careers at Apex Commercial, NAI MLG Commercial, and the John Buck Company.

Whether you are looking for a career in investments, corporate finance, financial planning or commercial real estate, our dedicated faculty will help you develop the tools that will prepare to be a socially responsible leader poised for a successful career.

A Well-Rounded Curriculum

Our finance major requires courses in investments and advanced financial management, and offers electives in topics such as international finance, derivatives, alternative investments, fixed investments, risk management, bank management, entrepreneurial finance, and investment ethics.

The real estate major requires courses in real estate finance and development, with electives in commercial valuation and seminar/applied courses that (a) take students through an entire real estate transaction (development, finance, purchase, lease, etc.) for different properties and (b) look at sustainability issues in real estate.

Applied Learning

Students have many opportunities to enhance their classroom knowledge with applied learning experiences. Many finance majors are members of the Financial Management Association, while those in real estate can join the Real Estate Club of Marquette. Our student organizations have strong ties to professionals in their respective areas that provide a base of networking for their members, and like most of the student groups at Marquette, both are involved in significant community service.

Our majors can also take part in internships with local, regional and national firms in the finance, financial services and commercial real estate industries and organizations, and all students in the college have the opportunity to participate in our formal mentoring program.

The Applied Investment Management Program and the CFA Exam

The Applied Investment Management Program (AIM) invites a select group of finance students to get hands-on training in security analysis and money management. One of the goals of the program is to cover the core body of knowledge that is covered by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level I exam so that students are prepared to take that exam shortly after graduation.

Review the requirements of the AIM Program.
