About Us

Programs offered by the Department of Finance prepare students for careers in all areas of finance as well as commercial real estate. Students can take courses in corporate finance, investment management, banking, international finance, real estate finance, real estate valuation and entrepreneurial finance—all taught by our dedicated faculty.

With a focus on core areas of finance, applied learning experiences through specialized programs such as Applied Investment Management and commercial real estate, and an emphasis on corporate social responsibility, our graduates are ready on the first day of their careers to add value to their organizations.

In addition to coursework, students gain practical experience through interactions with in-class speakers, networking opportunities with finance professionals, internships and activities sponsored by the Financial Management Association, the finance student organization.

Our faculty members conduct research on diverse topics such as short-selling, corporate governance in emerging markets, earnings management and takeovers, the effect of taxes on multinational debt location, the incidence and effectiveness of co-CEOs, and public resignations of directors.
