Economics
About Us
Anyone cognizant of the global events over the past decade recognizes the importance and relevance of Economics. Economics is about understanding and explaining human behavior in many different and exciting contexts. At Marquette, we teach students the principles of economic theory, but we don’t stop there. We also teach them how that theory is routinely applied in the business world.
Students learn from Ph.D. economists who are active scholars in their field, and who routinely consult in business and the public sector. Our leading edge curriculum exposes students to a wide range of subject areas including Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, International Trade, the Economics of Law, Econometrics, Environmental Economics, Health Economics, Economics of Religion, and many others.
The application of economics requires strong communication skills. Thus, our students learn how to do economic research, and they also learn to effectively communicate their findings in both technical and nontechnical terms.
Students put their knowledge to work through internships with local businesses, government agencies and nonprofits, or through international trips to work with new startup firms in developing countries.
