Mentor Program

The Marquette University Business Mentor Program is co-sponsored by the Marquette University Business Administration Alumni Association and the College of Business Administration. The Mentor Program provides an excellent opportunity for students in the junior class to learn about the world of business from a business professional. Mentors are Marquette alumni and friends who are business leaders in metro Milwaukee and Chicago area firms. Mentors can also provide invaluable insights into issues like career choice, interviewing skills, and career development. Each year, 250+ College of Business Administration students and alumni participate and form productive relationships.

Mentor Eligibility

Alumni and friends of Marquette with 5+ years of professional work experience are invited to participate in the Mentor Program. A range of professional roles and industry backgrounds are welcome and current employment is requested. Through an interview process, each student’s interests will be reviewed by alumni volunteers and mentor matches will be made to provide relationships based on mutual interests or experience areas.

Time Commitment & Events

Monthly Communication: Students Drive the Relationship

It is expected that the mentor and student protégé meet a minimum of one time per month for one hour during the Fall and Spring semesters. Each student protégé is responsible for driving this program – meaning that the student needs to take an active role in contacting his/her mentor and planning meeting times, just like the real world. Past protégés and mentors have attended speakers at MU or in the community, visited the mentor’s business, or talked over coffee during monthly meetings.

Mentor Program Kick-Off Meeting: Many alumni will meet their protégés at this event. Wednesday, October 12, 5:30-7:00 p.m. Alumni Memorial Union Ballrooms, Marquette University

Mentor Breakfast: This breakfast offers an opportunity to reconnect after the holiday break. This event will be held on Wednesday, January 25 from 7:15-8:30 a.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union Lunda Room.

End of Year Mentor Program Reception: A final thank you. Mentor awards are presented. This event is scheduled for Monday, April 2 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union ballrooms.
