MSHR Admissions

Applicants seeking admission to the MSHR program should follow the procedures and guidelines described in the Marquette University Graduate School Bulletin.

Admission decisions are based on a variety of criteria, each of which is intended to measure the applicant's ability to succeed in the program. No application can be evaluated until all of the required official documents have been received.

An applicant must have completed or be in the process of completing a four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. In addition, the applicant must submit the following items to the Marquette Graduate School of Management, Straz Hall Executive Center:

  • A completed Graduate School application and application fee
  • Official transcripts from previously and currently attended colleges and universities (other than Marquette)
  • Official test scores of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the GRE (Graduate Record Exam)
  • Essay questions on page 7 of the application form
  • Resume or job profile

International applicants whose native language is not English, and who have not received a degree from an accredited academic institution in the United States, also must submit official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores. In addition, international applicants are required to submit three letters of recommendation.

Application process and requirements

For all full-time applicants:

Students may apply for Regular Degree or Temporary Degree status. It is recommended that students apply for Regular Degree status when possible. International applicants on F1 visa are not eligible for temporary status. 

Deadlines for full-time applications for the Fall term only
First round of admissions for Fall enrollment only

  • December 1 for Fall, application and all materials by this date.  Students will be notified by January 15; those without a final decision will move to a waitlist and be reviewed in the second round

Second round of admissions for Fall enrollment only

  • February 15 for Fall, application and all materials due this date.  Students will be notified by March 31. 

Applications received or completed after February 15 will be accepted on a space-available basis only and are reviewed on a rolling basis.  International students must allow enough time to secure proper visa requirements.

Application deadlines for students starting the program in the Summer or Spring terms:

  • March 15 for Summer Session, file all materials by this date
  • October 1 for Spring Semester, file all materials by this date

 

Applicants for Regular Degree status must submit all materials directly to the Graduate School of Management, Straz Hall Executive Center:

  • A completed application form and $50 fee.
  • Official transcripts from all current and previous colleges except Marquette.
  • Official test scores from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Records Exam (GRE).
  • Essay questions on page 7 of the application form (optional for MSAE, required for all others).
  • Resume or job profile.
  • Three letters of recommendation are required for the Executive MBA and MS Applied Economics Programs as well as students that are applying for financial aid. Letters of recommendation are optional for the MBA, MS Accounting and Human Resource Programs.
  • Possible interview

(Additional requirements for international applicants only):

  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Official TOEFL score or other acceptable proof of English Proficiency
  • Possible interview required

For applicants for Temporary Degree, which is valid for one semester only. International applicants on F1 visa are not eligible for temporary status. 

  • A completed application form and $50 fee.
  • Official transcripts from all current and previous colleges except Marquette.
  • Essay questions on page 7 of the application form (optional for MSAE, required for all others)
  • Resume or job profile.
  • Three letters of recommendation are required for the Executive MBA and MS Applied Economics Programs. Letters of recommendation are optional for the MBA, MS Accounting and Human Resource Programs.

For all part-time applicants:

Students may apply for Regular Degree, Temporary Degree, or Non-degree status. It is recommended that students apply for Regular Degree status when possible. 

Application should be completed approximately one month prior to the start of the term the student wishes to enroll. 

Applicants for Regular Degree status must submit all materials directly to the Graduate School of Management, Straz Hall Executive Center:

  • A completed application form and $50 fee.
  • Official transcripts from all current and previous colleges except Marquette.
  • Official test scores from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Records Exam (GRE).
  • Essay questions on page 7 of the application form (optional for MSAE, required for all others).
  • Resume or job profile.
  • Three letters of recommendation are required for the Executive MBA and MS Applied Economics Programs as well as students that are applying for financial aid. Letters of recommendation are optional for the MBA, MS Accounting and Human Resource Programs.
