Admissions Process

Below is the admissions process for US-resident MBA & Master of Leadership Studies program applicants. International students please follow the instructions on the international students page.  If applying for programs other than the MBA or MLS, please read about different or additional requirements for MSA, MSAE, and MSHR.

Application Process and Requirements

For all part-time applicants:

Students may apply for Regular Degree, Temporary Degree, or Non-degree status. It is recommended that students apply for Regular Degree status when possible. 

Application should be completed approximately one month prior to the start of the term the student wishes to enroll. 

Applicants for Regular Degree status must submit all materials directly to the Graduate School of Management, Straz Hall Executive Center:

  • A completed application form and $50 fee.
  • Official transcripts from all current and previous colleges except Marquette.
  • Official test scores from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Records Exam (GRE).
    This requirement is waived if you have a terminal degree (i.e., PhD, MD or JD) or a Master's degree in a quantitative field (i.e. engineering, finance, etc.).  Please email your wiaver request to MBA@marquette.edu.
  • Essay questions on page 7 of the application form (optional for MSAE, required for all others).
  • Resume or job profile.
  • Three letters of recommendation are required for the Executive MBA and MS Applied Economics Programs as well as students that are applying for financial aid. Two letters of recommendation are required for Masters of Leadership Studies. Letters of recommendation are optional for the MBA, MS Accounting and Human Resource Programs.

Additional requirements for international applicants only (an international student is defined as an applicant who is not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident):

  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Official TOEFL score or other acceptable proof of English Proficiency
  • Possible interview required

For applicants for Temporary Degree, which is valid for one semester only, or Non-degree status:

  • A completed application form and $50 fee.
  • Official transcripts from all current and previous colleges except Marquette.

  • Resume or job profile.

(International applicants on an F-1 visa are not eligible for this status.)

For all full-time applicants:

Students may apply for Regular Degree or Temporary Degree status. It is recommended that students apply for Regular Degree status when possible. International applicants on F1 visa are not eligible for temporary status. 

Deadlines for full-time applications for the Fall term only
First round of admissions for Fall enrollment only

  • December 1 for Fall, application and all materials by this date.  Students will be notified by January 15; those without a final decision will move to a waitlist and be reviewed in the second round

Second round of admissions for Fall enrollment only

  • February 15 for Fall, application and all materials due this date.  Students will be notified by March 31. 

Applications received or completed after February 15 will be accepted on a space-available basis only and are reviewed on a rolling basis.  International students must allow enough time to secure proper visa requirements.

Application deadlines for students starting the program in the Summer or Spring terms:

  • March 15 for Summer Session, file all materials by this date
  • October 1 for Spring Semester, file all materials by this date

Financing Your Degree

Tuition Reimbursement: For information regarding corporate tuition reimbursement you will need to contact your individual company as tuition reimbursement policies vary dramatically from company to company. The best place to start is usually your Human Resources Department. We invoice students directly for tuition and they negotiate tuition reimbursement with their firm.
